On-Board Activities: Meals

Breakfast

Breakfast is commonly served at Topsider Buffet and Lumière's on the Disney Magic and the Beach Blanket Buffet and Triton's on the Disney Wonder, as well as Parrot Cay on both ships. Unlike for dinner, you have no appointed seating time for breakfast. So long as you arrive between the designated hours, you will be provided a table. The menu is selection of standard American dishes including bacon, eggs, cereal and pasteries. The 7-day cruise also offers character breakfasts and teas where the family can dine with Mickey, Minnie and all the rest.

Lunch

Like breakfast, there is no designated seating for lunch. The dining rooms serving lunch varies according to your current port of call. Because many people choose to have lunch at the barbecue on Castaway Cay, for example, fewer dining rooms serve lunch that day. Menus vary.

Dinner

Dinner is an event aboard a Disney ship. There is an early sitting and a late sitting for dinner, designed to correspond to the time of the stage shows in the Walt Disney Theater. Your party is assigned a sitting time and a table. Your table will accomdate 8 or more people, so you will likely have company for dinner. Make friends. Your table mates on the first night will be your table mates throughout the cruise. The Disney Cruise Line employs a "rotating dining" package where you and your table mates, as well as your waiting staff, are assigned the same table in a different restaurant for every night of your cruise.

For a bit of privacy, you may choose to forego one or more of your appointed dinners for a quiet meal at Palo, the adults only restaurant There is a $5 surcharge per person for dining at Palo and you are reminded to tip the waiter, since he does not make up part of your regular waiting staff, whom you will be tipping at the end of your voyage.

On the 7 day sailing you will find that there are formal nights, informal nights, and international nights offering a variety of different menu items. Some men wear tuxedos to the formal nights, while others opt for dark suits. For something more casual, the 7 day cruise also offers informal dining at Topsider's Buffet on nights 2 through 6 of your sailing. No reservations are necessary and dress is casual. Dining is buffet style.

You may bring your own bottles of wine to dinner, but are reminded that there is a $15 corking fee for each bottle.

Character Breakfast

On the 7 day sailings, you are granted the opportunity to participate in a breakfast with the Disney characters. On the first night of your cruise, during dinner, your waiting staff will inform you of your assigned morning for breakfast with the characters. You will also be given special invitation cards. During the breakfast, characters will go from table to table and visit you and your party, pose for pictures and sign autographs.
